Lauren Gehringer

Lauren Gehringer author of Chewing to Pooing
Lauren Gehringer has most recently spent her time as primary-care-taker to her two young children. She was inspired to write “From Chewing to Pooing: Food’s Journey Through Your Body to the Potty” after creating a rudimentary diagram of the digestive process to use while potty training.
Potty training was challenging, and constipation made things even tougher. Through conversations with friends, family and a community of pediatricians, Lauren came to realize that childhood constipation is extremely prevalent.
While caused by many factors, a common culprit is anxiety some experience with going poo. This can lead to withholding which, in turn, can cause constipation.
“From Chewing to Pooing: Food’s Journey Through Your Body to the Potty” is Lauren’s first book. A self-published labour of love, created to help little ones better understand and appreciate how their bodies work; taking the mystery - and anxiety - out of going to the bathroom.
